The number of reported cases of white-collar crime rose significantly in 2024. In total, over 61,000 white-collar crimes were recorded, representing an increase of more than 57 percent compared to the previous year. Overall, white-collar crime causes immense financial damage in Germany. In 2024, the total amount of damages amounted to 2.76 billion euros. White-collar crimes are thus responsible for more than one-third of all damages resulting from criminal offenses, even though they account for only about one percent of all criminal offenses.

This figure alone makes it clear that it is of enormous importance for companies to protect their employees and their corporate assets and to place greater emphasis on corporate security and compliance. Not least because the number of crimes in which the internet is used as a tool is rising significantly.
