White-Collar Crime: The Underestimated Problem
In 2021, German police recorded over 50,000 white-collar crimes, an increase of 4.2 percent over the previous year. According to the Federal Criminal Police Office, white-collar crime is responsible for about half of all damage caused by criminal acts in Germany, even though it only accounts for about one to two percent of all criminal acts. Although a high number of unreported cases can be assumed, it can be assumed that the damage amounts to between two and three billion euros per year.
This figure alone makes it clear that it is of enormous importance for companies to protect their employees and their company assets, and to place greater emphasis on the areas of corporate security and compliance.
