Werksleiter / Head of Business Unit Tanks (m/f/d) Plant construction for the beverage industry

Our client is a leading producer of customized tank and process technology solutions for the beverage industry. With its many years of international experience, the company is an established and reliable partner for its demanding customers around the globe. As part of an international group it offers technically and economically optimal solutions in all dimensions, up to complex EPC-projects. With the German headquarters, the company with more than 400 employees controls all process steps of the value chain from there. For the further successful implementation of national and international projects, the position as Head of Business Unit Tanks (m/f/d) at the production site near a southern German metropolis is to fill.


Your Job

As Head of the Business Unit Tanks with approx. 200 employees, the holder of the position is responsible for all technical and commercial issues. He leads the business unit as a profit center and continues to develop the business unit strategically and operationally. In addition to the operational business, an important part of this task is the improvement of processes (in the sense of LEAN). The holder of the position is responsible for project management, engineering, production and facility management at the production site. He works closely with the colleagues from Sales, HR, IT and Finance and reports directly to the CEO/COO. This includes in detail:


  • Full P&L responsibility for the business unit Tanks
  • Support of the sales team regarding the project acquisition and optimal project set-up
  • Responsibility for Project Management for the execution of the international tank orders, including the strategic control of the operative departments at the site
  • Management and control of international large-scale projects in the field of tank construction, involving further companies of the group
  • Responsibility for all operational processes as well as for the identification and implementation of further optimization potentials in
    • Improvement of the H&S organization and processes
    • Increase of the productivity in all areas
    • Optimization of cost structures
  • Support of the general management in strategic decisions regarding the further development of the business areas and product range
  • Responsibility for the reporting of key figures of the business unit
  • Responsibility for the employee development and leadership at the site
  • Support the Group COO in coordination of the global production facilities of the group of companies (Business Unit Liquid Food), with the following objectives:
    • Harmonization of processes, procedures, policies and tools
    • Develop and implement strategic initiatives on group level to support group strategy
    • Facilitate best practices across group entities by regular exchange of know how
    • Develop a common KPI-system, capacity planning tools and reporting packages


Your Profile

  • Academic degree in mechanical engineering with additional education in business administration or a degree as an industrial engineer / business degree with additional technical training
  • Extensive knowledge in production management, preferably in the mechanical processing of steel and stainless steel
  • Experienced in leadership of production facilities and management/ coordination of an internal production network
  • Several years of experience in project sales and project management of plants and equipment, preferably in the food industry
  • Profound experience in process optimization
  • Knowledge of the use of MS Office and ERP systems (ideally SAP)
  • Business fluent German and English spoken and written skills
